UNCAPD Foundations – Speed & Agility Program (Ages 8–10)
Term 2 Program
Building Strong Movement Foundations for Long-Term Athletic Success
The UNCAPD Foundations Speed & Agility Program is a structured 8-week coaching experience designed specifically for young athletes aged 8–10. This program focuses on developing fundamental movement skills, coordination, and basic speed mechanics in a safe, positive, and age-appropriate environment.
At this stage of development, the primary objective is not simply to run faster, but to learn how to move well. Research in long-term athlete development consistently shows that early emphasis on movement quality, balance, coordination, and sprint mechanics builds the foundation for injury resilience and future performance.
Sessions are delivered by qualified performance coaches and follow a progressive structure that blends technical coaching, engaging drills, and fun movement challenges. Athletes learn how to sprint with correct posture, accelerate safely, and change direction efficiently, while also building confidence and enjoyment in training.
